Is Tiger Woods’s Masters victory the greatest comeback ever? Vas Promotions Investigate
On Sunday, April 14th, Tiger Woods secured his first major victory in eleven years. Woods shot a final round score of 70 to finish 13-under par. The win has led outsourced sales and marketing firm, Vas Promotions, to question whether the victory is the greatest comeback ever.
With his fifth Masters victory, Woods’s journey back to the top of the sport was complete. This was the first major title Woods had won in fourteen years. In a career setback by scandal and injuries, is the Masters victory one of the greatest career comebacks in the history of the sport?
Before Sunday, Woods had spent almost a decade on the outside looking in, a shadow of his former self. Woods was a golf prodigy, making history winning his first Masters at the age of 21. In 2009, Woods’s marriage fell apart after a very public scandal. After their divorce in 2010, Woods underwent four back surgeries, leaving doubts about whether he would be able to play again. Woods’s troubles continued in 2017 when he was arrested after being found asleep in his car with its engine running at a traffic light, which eventually saw him plead guilty to reckless driving.
Woods career has been plagued with personal problems in recent years. Leaving many wondering whether he could reclaim his past glory. Now 46, Sunday’s victory was the first major title win in more than ten years. Woods’s last victory before Sunday was at the 2008 U.S. Open. The 11-year gap between majors is tied for the longest drought ever. The Masters triumph gives Woods 15 career major titles, just three behind all-time leader Jack Nicklaus.
Speaking after the victory on Sunday, Woods said.
“When I tapped the [final] putt in, I don’t know what I did, but I know I screamed,” Woods said in Butler Cabin after the round. “To have my kids there, it’s come full circle. My dad was here in ’97, and now I’m the dad with two kids there.”
Managing Director at Vas Promotions, Vasile Topciu is an avid sports fan, and he was inspired by Woods Masters victory. “Woods experienced a massive fall from grace, and he’s effectively been in the sporting wilderness for over a decade. However, he has developed a resilient desire to succeed and has a will to win. After eleven years without a major victory, for me, his Masters win is the greatest comeback ever,” stated the business owner.
Vas Promotions is an elite outsourced sales and marketing company based in Birmingham. Mr. Topciu is urging the firm’s workforce to take inspiration from Woods to keep going and follow through on their goals.
